Why does the american bulldog have red eyes?

my friend bought an american bulldog and every time she takes him for a walk he gets red eyes whats wrong with him he is 14 months old is this normal

This is quite common in bulldogs, but it's not a good thing and definitely something to try to cure.
One answerer says, "It is normal in Bulldogs, yes- but it is most likely the result of a genetic problem that requires surgery to correct.
Bulldogs are very prone to developing entropion eye problems, which cause the eyelid to curl into the eye, consequentially rubbing on your dogs eye, irritating it, and making it red.
It can cause blindness when left untreated, and it does cause a lot of pain and discomfort for your dog.

You should definately get your dogs eyes examined by a vet, to rule out this issue or any other eye problem."

It could be conjunctivitis, or cherry eye. Bulldogs have a HUGE tendency to get these eye problems. Google it and you'll find hundreds of cases all over the Internet! Since you're not sure what it is, the best thing you can do is take him to the vet before it gets any worse and at least get a diagnosis.

Good luck, and I hope his eyes are better soon!
