Ronald Reagan political ad ... Have things changed much since 1948?
Answers :
Plenty of things have changed since then. That video was actually very interesting, because I thought that Reagan was a Republican from start to finish. But according to the video description, he was, at the time, a liberal Democrat in support of Harry Truman. I guess that Reagan's time as a corporate shill corroded him into the Republican we all know.
I guess what's changed is that political advocates aren't as willing to back up their arguments as they were back then. I'm willing to bet that political debates were more intelligent, unlike now. The internet also has a role in this, as online culture has pretty much destroyed nearly all forms of civilized debate in favor of trolling, mindless ranting, and uncensored hate. But the real problem is the demise of the Fairness Doctrine, which regulated media, keeping it from airing one-sided propaganda, which the likes of Fox News, and the radio responsible for Rush Limbaugh, are guilty of. How else did the Republicans win the mid-term elections in '94? They couldn't have without Rush Limbaugh.
One thing that hasn't changed is the influence of money. The video mentioned that the Republicans were paying "a small fortune" to bolster Ball's campaign. The Republicans are doing the same so they can put Obama out of power.
Obviously.
The question you asked was: "Have things changed much." I gave you my answer, if you are certain it was something else, you shouldn't have bothered asking in the first place.
Yeah, they have.

And you failed to mention that Reagan came to his senses and became
a Conservative republican. Convenience I guess.

That's about the time of this recording.
